2009 Inductee Gene Suttle
Vice Commissioner and Head Groundskeeper, 2005-2008

Letter from the Commissioner, Jordan Kadrie
Gene Suttle's inclusion as the inaugural member of the Wiffle Atlanta Hall Of Fame was an easy choice to make. If it weren't for him, this league would still be where it was in 2005, if anywhere or anything at all. He is very responsible for each venue that we have all played at (from the slightly open Tucker Middle School football field to the wonderful Glenlake Park field we use and occupy now) and for the Gorf Rats/Senators franchise we all (finally?) came to know, love, and fear towards the end of the 2008 season. However, regardless of how his team played, his trademark voice (gravelly with a hint of big league announcer in there) could always be heard calling out the count, or shouts of "Oh mama!" piercing the air after a homerun, but always with the gleeful tone of a 10 year old seeing his first baseball game and who, somehow, has already had his fill of cigarettes. Anyway, I speak for the whole league when I say that we'll miss Gene's presence around the field each and every weekend, and we all wish him good luck in his future endeavors in the great white north (or North Carolina, whatever).
